ANY DREAM WILL DO AS BLACKPOOL GRAND UNLEASHES A DAZZLING SUMMER YOUTH PRODUCTION OF JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT

A burst of colour, music and feel-good family energy comes to The Grand this August, with tickets from just £18

Blackpool Grand Theatre is set to shine in every colour of the rainbow this summer as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat bursts onto its famous stage from Wednesday 19 August to Saturday 22 August 2026.

Presented as a Blackpool Grand Theatre Summer Youth Production, this spectacular staging of one of the world’s best-loved musicals will bring together an exceptional young cast for a feel-good theatrical celebration packed with colour, humour, heart and unforgettable songs.

Following the success of last year’s incredible The Wind in the Willows, the talented creative team returns with fresh energy, big ambition and a production designed to showcase the next generation of local stage talent at one of the country’s most beautiful theatres.

With tickets starting from just £18, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat promises to be one of the brightest family treats of the summer holidays.

Featuring lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tells the timeless story of Joseph, his jealous brothers and the extraordinary coat that changes everything. From the soaring optimism of Any Dream Will Do to the emotional power of Close Every Door, and from the irresistible fun of Go, Go, Go Joseph to the toe-tapping joy of Benjamin Calypso, the musical is packed with songs audiences know, love and leave the theatre singing.

Bursting with colour, comedy and pure theatrical magic, this vibrant new production will give young performers the chance to take centre stage in a show that has thrilled generations, while offering audiences a glorious summer night out for the whole family.

Adam Knight, Chief Executive of Blackpool Grand Theatre, said: “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is one of those rare musicals that seems to light up a room before the first note has even finished. It is joyful, generous, full of heart and absolutely made for family audiences, but what makes this production especially exciting is that it places young people right at the centre of that magic.

“At Blackpool Grand, we believe deeply in opening up our stage to the next generation, not as a side project, but as an essential part of who we are as a theatre. Our Summer Youth Production gives young performers the chance to work with ambition, discipline and imagination in a professional environment, and it gives audiences the chance to see just how much talent, energy and promise exists in our community.

“This is going to be a huge, colourful, uplifting week at The Grand, and I cannot think of a better way for families to celebrate the summer holidays than with a show that reminds us all that dreams, however unlikely they may seem, really can take flight.”

Mykey Young, Creative Programme Producer and Grand Young Company Director at Blackpool Grand Theatre, said: “There is something incredibly special about putting a show like Joseph into the hands of young performers, because it is a story about hope, resilience, imagination and finding your own voice – all things that sit right at the heart of our work with young people at Blackpool Grand.

“After the joy and ambition of The Wind in the Willows, we knew we wanted this year’s Summer Youth Production to feel even bigger, brighter and bolder. Joseph gives our young cast the chance to sing, dance, tell a brilliant story and experience the thrill of being part of a major musical on a major stage.

“For many of these young people, this will be a defining moment: the production they remember, the friendships they carry forward, the experience that makes them believe they belong in theatre. Audiences should expect big voices, big colours, big smiles and a production filled with the kind of energy only young performers can bring. It is going to be a total joy.”

The production runs from Wednesday 19 August to Saturday 22 August 2026, with performances at 7pm on Wednesday 19, Thursday 20, Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August, plus 2pm matinees on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August. Tickets start from just £18.

Colourful, uplifting and packed with songs you’ll never forget, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a spectacular, family-friendly musical adventure for dreamers of every age.
