The Blackpool Illumination Switch on 2014
Well I didn’t have a ticket, I resigned myself to yet another snub from Blackpool Council, but with only hours to go..Tracy Norris from Blackpool saved the day for Live In Blackpool readers..She kindly had 2 spare wristbands and I rushed to her home at 3pm on the day and joined the Q at 4pm..
A massive thank you to Tracy..

Once we passed through the security and there was 3 different lines checking our wristbands , we made our way into the arena.. ![]()
I was trying to figure out how on Earth I could get any images.. ![]()
To say it was challenging is an understatement, the ‘Official’ photographers had the luxury of a special area directly in front of the stage, I had 500yds of people, some on shoulders, some waving bottles, posters and the rain..!
Very difficult to photograph, but I was willing to give it a go and do my best..
I hope that you like my take on the Switch On…
Well I would like to congratulate Visit Blackpool and Rock FM for pulling it off, It was an amazing show, the artists despite the weather performed incredibly well..
I loved all the artists that performed, but my favourites were…
Renegade Girls and Texas…

I wish that the Renegade Girls had performed more songs, they reminded me of the Go Go’s ( Modern Version ) really bouncy outfit that could play, sing and they looked awesome…!
Texas, well what can you say about a group that has everything, they lifted the crowd into a frenzy..!!
Summer Son was one of many songs that they performed and it raised the stage roof..!!
Little Mix was the headline group, I liked them too..they perfomed Salute,DNA and Wings, much to the delight of the crowd.. ![]()
Union J performed as did Pixie Lottt.. ![]()
George Ezra Blues guitarist performed an amazing set, his unique cool guitar playing and singing had the crowd eating out of his hand..Budapest was a song that wrote on a train whilst travelling to…Budapest.. ![]()
Neon Jungle did quite an eye catching set, Jess Plummer was wearing her I Love Blackpool hoodie for the occasion, she proclaimed on stage how lucky that they were to be there…
Myth of Unity, Amy Jo, Hana Joy, Goodnight April, Melissa Suffield, Sam Callahan, Tiger Heart, Janet Devlin, Harry Mondryk and Jai McDowell, Kingsland Road, and Amelia Lilly.. ![]()
I chose to try and photograph every artist that performed at the Switch On event, some media sources have chosen to focus on the ‘Headliners’ but in my eye’s they are ALL headliners and contributed to a wonderful show that befitted the Illumination Switch On 2014.. ![]()
A challenge to photograph..

Renegade Girls.. ![]()

A great view from the top of Blackpool Tower, the RockFM Dj had asked the 20,000 crowd at various times to turn and wave up at the people watching from the top of the Tower..
Everybody laughed when one man ran and hid.. ![]()

George Ezra.. ![]()

My Favourites…TEXAS..!!
