Entertainment History was made in Blackpool today when a statue dedicated to the comedy duo was revealed to the World by members of their Family..
Icons in their own right, today would have marked the 75th anniversary of their debut performance as a double act at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre in 1941.
The comedians appeared Live In Blackpool in more than 1,000 shows in the seaside town.
For me personally I could barely contain my excitement at the prospect of having this amazing statue created and sculptured by Graham Ibbeson in my home town of Blackpool..Funded by donations it cost £75,000 and well done to the Blackpool Winter Gardens and Opera House for giving it a wonderful home in the foyer just outside the theatre..
Just so privileged to be there to witness this amazing thing for Blackpool..
