A few years ago I reported on this amazing construction on the Blackpool Promenade..
To be fair at the time it had a lot of criticism, but 6 years later its more popular than ever..!
Let me take you back 6 years when I met the German architect behind this masterpiece who even invited me onto the roof..!!
Did I go up the ladder to the top with my fear of heights..?
You will see if I did or not..!
Ok here we go from 6 years ago my reports at the time..
As you can see from my images, getting close to this new attraction is quite difficult..
Its a shame really as I would of loved to photograph it from the start..
Plans to create the brand new Blackpool wedding chapel on the Tower Festival Headland are now well under way. The building will provide a wonderful wedding venue for anyone getting married in Blackpool, as well as a focal point for visitors, alongside neighbouring public artworks and entertainment spaces.
The wedding chapel will be built from solid timber and clad in gold coloured stainless steel shingles. The eye-catching Blackpool wedding tower will feature dramatic picture windows to enable visitors, and couples exchanging vows, the chance to enjoy summer sun or the winter illuminations.
Designers dRMM Architects are leaders in the delivery of solid timber architecture, which can be prefabricated making it possible for carpenters to assemble the core of the building in a very short space of time.
The 2.7m development costs have been met by the Northwest Development Agency.
Blackpool wedding chapel should be ready to host its first wedding in October 2011, and will also boast a rooftop terrace and a restaurant. The original plans were adapted to include larger window space allowing more light to flow throughout the structure – creating stunning views over the shoreline.

I am so pleased to be able to bring members and readers of Live In Blackpool exclusive pictures of the Wedding Chapel, that is currently being constructed on the Blackpool Promenade..
It was very kind of Parkinsons Ltd and David in particular to of invited me today, thank you..
The Wedding Chapel should be completed in the Summer, it will give Brides & Grooms and Civil Partners the unique opportunity of being married underneath Blackpool Tower and over looking the Irish sea..
I arrived today and met some very kind people, its a joint British, German venture and most of the building is constructed in Germany and transported to Blackpool..

I arrived at just the right time, part of the cantilever platform where the happy couples will say I do, was being fitted..

First glimpses inside the chapel..
Its a natural wooden construction and it will be finished to the highest of standards..

After this I was led to a ladder, I dont normally do ladders but for some reason I just went up with David and Steve..
It was great once I was up there, the views were amazing and the location is stunning..

It will all be finished in Gold Shingles..
It will look amazing..

Now the platform is being locked into position..

In the distance, the Comedy Carpet..

These bricks are seriously expensive.. ![]()

David with one of the bricks..

The project is so big, it even has its own concrete mixing machine..

Some o the actual design images..

Once again I am so pleased that I was invited back to see how the work is progressing on this amazing structure.

Stunning views..

Parts of the building is clad in this lovely gold coloured metallic paneling..

A mirror shot…

The Wedding Chapel room..
Very impressed with size of this room, it can hold around 80 people and its designer Saska Koopman has worked wonders here..

This is where the happy couple will be standing..
The window had some sea salt on it from the storm, but they will be cleaned for the happy event..

The lighting and sound is incredible..

Back to those amazing stairs.. incidentally there is a lift if you are disabled..

Outside the stone work has amazing detail, they even have little blue lights that are illuminated at night..

Sakia Koopman has designed a lovely building that will serve Blackpool well, Parkinsons Ltd have built a building that will have a long standing legacy, that will become as famous as Blackpool Tower..

This what is now known as The Beach House..

Thank you for reading until the end, it is a long topic but it is part of the recent Blackpool History..
