Inspired by the hit 1980s film and featuring an unforgettable score by country queen Dolly Parton, 9 to 5 The Musical follows three office workers who’ve had just about enough of their egotistical, chauvinistic boss. But when they decide to turn the tables, things get hilariously out of hand – and a wild plan for revenge leads to friendship, freedom, and a fabulously funny new kind of workplace revolution.
It’s a story that’s equal parts girl power and giggle power, packed with Dolly’s signature wit, warmth and toe-tapping tunes. From the iconic opening number “9 to 5” to the show-stopping finale, this is a high-energy celebration of courage, camaraderie, and the unstoppable spirit of women who refuse to be pushed around – or pushed out.
Presented by Landmark Theatres, this dazzling new production brings Broadway sparkle to the seaside. With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, a book by Patricia Resnick, and based on the 20th Century Fox picture, the show has been a global crowd-pleaser since its original Broadway run, produced by Robert Greenblatt in April 2009. Featuring orchestrations by Bruce Coughlin and additional arrangements by Stephen Oremus and Alex Lacamoire, and presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International, 9 to 5 The Musical is pure theatrical gold dust.
