Only my 2nd time that I have seen Duran Duran its hard to believe as I have been a fan since 1980 but circumstances and bad luck prevented me from seeing them but I have every record including very rare produced albums from the 1980’s and their picture that was sent to me by the group in 2005 still adorns my office wall 😜
Well how long do I have to best describe this masterpiece of a show ?
But before I do I would like to say thank you to those people who made our personal experience so amazing. From the impromptu meet up with Duran Duran fans from all over the World to Steve who told us to jump into his cab at the hotel and refused any payment. To the lovely couple one being a director of a top magazine and her husband who shared the same birthday as me and we even showed each other our driving licenses to prove it !
It was also amazing to see our friend and colleague Dr Cheryl 😎
So back to the show I will use the word Incredible for now, but for the purists out there it was pretty much perfection. Simon Le Bons vocals are often praised as being very strong but he really did reach out to another level for this performance. John Taylor on bass guitar , Nick Rhodes on keyboards and Roger Taylor on drums kept things tight and added to a very powerful performance. The show on Friday was a mix of cutting edge pyrotechnics with visually large screens that created a fully immersive experience and they also hired more shall I say risqué dancers and fire eaters, this was far more than just a concert.
Set list was a mixture of old and new and it worked really well coupled in with some music collaborations it worked so well..
